Camera B should be angled 30 to 45 degrees to the side and capture a distinctly different shot. The editor could then flip between these two views to make the cut appear natural.

Those are the videos that have the highest retention rates, so if people aren’t watching your videos all the way through, you’re not showing up as recommended. If you’re not showing up, you’re missing out on more potential viewers.
There’s a lot of room to get creative with strategies here. The key is, though, to focus on specific goals and create videos to accomplish them; not the other way around. Keep the digital sales funnel in mind, just like you would on your blog, and nudge users towards conversion accordingly.
Conversion Rate: Conversion rate is the number of times visitors completed your desired action divided by the number of clicks on your CTA. If your goal is to have your viewers complete an action like signing up for a free trial, try adding a video to your landing page to see if your conversion rate increases.
Dove does it again. While this video marketing campaign by Ogilvy & Mather Chicago received some mixed reviews when it was first released, there is no denying that Dove is adept at crafting stories and encouraging their community to participate in those stories.

But what does shutter speed mean for video? We won’t go too deep into the science of shutter speed, but to pick the adequate setting you will have to do a little math. First, multiply your frame rate by 2. So if you’re shooting in 24fps, that would be 48. This number becomes the denominator of your shutter speed fraction. Since shutter speed is only available in a few increments, you’ll need to round 1/48 up to the next closest setting: 1/50.
If you’re up for a challenge, trying telling a story with your b-roll and plan out a shot sequence. For example, your subject might open a door from the hallway, walk into their office space, sit down at their desk, open their laptop, and begin typing. Seems simple, right? But a shot sequence showing this 10 second scenario might consist of six or more different b-roll clips.

So let’s talk about metrics so you can better understand how you’ll measure your success and set goals. When you post a video, it’s easy to get obsessed with one metric — view count. When promoting your YouTube channel or videos on your social media sites, consider the best marketing strategy. Simply sharing the video on your timeline or feed may not be the most effective option. Think of why you made the video. Maybe you created a tutorial because users were asking a lot of questions about how to use your product. In that case, it might be best to respond to those questions with a link to your video. If you created a video as part of a larger campaign or global trend, be sure to include relevant #hashtags where appropriate to ensure your video is included in the conversation.

So, you’ve decided to create a YouTube channel? Great! We can’t wait to see the amazing content you promote. Before we dive in, it’s important to note that maintaining a YouTube channel takes extra time and planning.
Starting in May 2017, YouTube will no longer allow users to add annotations to their videos. Instead, they are encouraging users to incorporate cards and end screens in their videos to poll viewers, link to external sites, or direct people to other videos. Thankfully, cards and end screens are as easy to add as annotations. Cards are small, rectangular notifications that appear in the top, right-hand corner of both desktop and mobile screens. You can include up to five cards per video, but if you’re including multiple cards, be sure to space them out evenly to give viewers time to take the desired action.
Dharmesh Shah, Founder and CTO of HubSpotsays it best: “The worst thing to do is make a completely boring video. Videos that are pure marketing puff pieces don’t spread.” So what do your audience want instead? They want to laugh, they want to feel enlightened, they want to be pulled out of their boring 9 to 5s and forget about their realities. HubSpot don’t take themselves too seriously – Dharmesh insists that humour works well for their video marketing campaigns.
Also, don’t forget to include a link to your desired call to action as high up in the description. If you want people to share the video, use a service called ClicktoTweet.com. If you want people to opt into a mailing list, insert a link to the landing page you want them to go to. It’s as simple as that.

But before we dive in, a caveat: this is a high level overview of each setting. If you find yourself geeking out at any time, dive in and research more. There’s plenty to learn about how to manipulate multiple of these settings in conjunction with each other to create different looks. 
Your videos should work the same way. Even if they aren’t ads, you should treat it them as such. Hook the viewer in with visuals and a few great opening lines. Then keep them entertained. Watch what I do in this video:
Using the above example of Business Insider, you may not want to target all the viewers of all their content. Some of their most popular videos have little to do with business — but even among those that are business-related, some may be geared toward viewers who may not be in your target audience. So, rather than targeting an entire channel, you may want to place an ad against a video that has relevant content and a decent number of views.
Notice how each one gives you a very specific idea of what the video is about. Each one offers something a little different, but gives the searcher the freedom to choose what is going to be best for them. For reference YouTube’s keyword tool shows 21,600 searches for the phrase, while Google says 49,500; that’s a perfect sweet spot for keyword optimization.

TrueView In-Display Video Ads – These videos are promoted next to the YouTube videos, but your video does not play automatically. Google only charges your AdWords account when people click on the thumbnail of the video and start to watch it.
Video poses some unique challenges for your computer and file organization habits. And if you’re one of those people who work off a cluttered desktop — you know who you are — you’ll find yourself in a world of hurt. 
To add a channel icon, click on the default red profile picture in the upper left-hand corner of your channel. Then upload an image. Google recommends uploading an 800 x 800 px square or round image. Please note, it may take several minutes for your channel icon to appear after uploading.
Just like with on-page SEO, it’s important to optimize your video’s title and description. The title is the first thing people will read when scrolling through a list of videos, so make sure it’s clear and compelling — it should make searchers curious about the content or be instantly clear that your video will help them solve a problem. Do some keyword research to better understand what viewers are searching for. Include the most important information and keywords in the beginning of your title. Finally, keep titles to around 60 characters to keep text from being cut off in results pages.

The exact settings on your camera will depend on the model you have, but there’s likely an auto option, a bunch of presets (daylight, cloudy, tungsten, etc.), and custom. Avoid auto white balance at all costs and instead opt for a preset or custom. If you have a top-of-the-line DSLR, there may also be an option to manually set the color temperature of the room, measured in Kelvin.
Aside from making your hearing-impaired and international viewers happy, this also gives additional content for the GoogleBot to index when they’re trying to determine which videos to rank into the searches.
If you choose a DSLR, there are a few settings you need to understand before your first shoot: frame rate, shutter speed, ISO, aperture, and color balance. Definitely keep your camera nearby as you read — manual settings can seem quite abstract without testing them for yourself.
This is one a lot of businesses forget about, and trust me- you don’t want to. A well-written YouTube channel description helps you demonstrate why users want to watch your content and subscribe to your channels. It gives you a chance to give them the background of your business in a way you might not be able to do efficiently in a featured video.
The best part of individual video targeting is the level of control and granularity. To reach scale, however, you’ll need to aggregate a lot of popular videos together. And if the content is not evergreen, their popularity may already have faded.
Finally, mark your good clips. Even if you’re recording a scripted video, you might have to record each section 10 or more times. Once your subject nails the take, wave your hand in front of the lens. That way, the editor can scrub directly to this visual cue and save a lot of time while reviewing the footage. 
Do all of your drafting in Google Docs to promote collaboration and real-time commenting. Use the “Insert > Table” function to adopt one of television’s traditional script writing practices: the two-column script. Write your audio in the left column and insert visual ideas along the way in the right column.
Make the most of the emotive power of video by appealing to your consumers’ needs and hidden desires. Scared you’ll lose leads this way? You can always place a strategic and relevant call to action alongside a tracked URL at the end of your video (just make sure it fits into your overall story).

You can create videos in-house or have a video marketing agency create them for you. In-house video allows you better control over video and makes it easier to feature personal touches, such as messages from actual employees. But it can also cost you more in time, lost work productivity and money as you learn the best video creation techniques. An agency gives you a professional-looking video right away from experienced creators. Keep in mind that whichever option you choose, you’ll have to make sure that the technical team and the creative team communicate clearly and frequently.
Conversion Rate: Conversion rate is the number of times visitors completed your desired action divided by the number of clicks on your CTA. If your goal is to have your viewers complete an action like signing up for a free trial, try adding a video to your landing page to see if your conversion rate increases.
Instead, flip your lens to manual focus. Use the (+) and (-) buttons to enlarge the viewfinder and move in close to your subject’s face. Then, adjust the focus on the lens. For shooting a stationary setup like an interview, make sure the subject’s eyelashes are in focus — that way, you can be certain your footage is clear and sharp.

As you begin creating videos, you’ll notice a key difference between scripts and your typical business blog post: the language. Video language should be relaxed, clear, and conversational. Finally, consider adding intro and outro music. Intro and outro music, or bookends, can serve as a theme for your content and is a great choice if you don’t need music throughout your entire video. Bookend music can help set the tone for your video, naturally split your content into chapters, and leave your viewers feeling complete. While some videos feel unfinished without background music, others just need a little to tie the project together. Pay attention to videos that have a similar style to see how others utilize music.

We’ve already seen examples of this with brands like Dollar Shave Club, which invested in a video campaign and, according to a New York Times interview with the founder, received 12,000 new orders in the first 48 hours of the video’s launch. That one campaign turned this little-known subscription service into an internet darling with a big following almost overnight.
When it comes time to shoot, clear out unnecessary people from the room and turn off the overhead lights. With your three-point lighting setup, there will be no need for those harsh fluorescents. When — and only when — everything is set up, call in your talent. There’s nothing worse than being nervous, and then having to anxiously watch as lights are turned on and the camera is tested.

As it does, you can enter in the video’s basic information, including its name, the video description, the privacy settings, and which playlist you’d like it to appear on. You should also add tags, which helps the video show up in relevant searches. You’ll want to make sure that the video’s text is optimized for SEO; we’ll go over this in the next section.

After you’ve determined the type of music you need, it’s time to start analyzing potential songs. Consider the song’s pacing. Songs with a steady rhythm are easy to change to suit your video style. Hoping to include your favorite, top 40 hit? Popular, radio songs are usually structured in 4-5 parts and can be difficult to transition. Try to choose simple songs that are easy to loop. If you’re looking for an instrumental song, be sure to find something that was recorded with real instruments. Songs made with digital samples can make your video feel unprofessional and out of date.

YouTube has a library of free sound effects and music to use in your videos. Some other great resources for royalty free music are Pond5, Epidemic Sound, and PremiumBeat. Both services include thousands of professionally recorded and produced songs in a multitude of genres at varying lengths and tempos. PremiumBeat and Pond5 both include a large library of sound effects to add texture and depth to your videos. Sometimes, it only takes a subtle sound effect layer in the background of a scene to elevate the production quality of your video and really pull your audience into the story.
