When I’m asked “Should I monetize my channel?” by a client, I always ask “do you mean monetize like show ads and try to get paid?” For most businesses, I do not recommend that course of action. I have a few good reasons why.

Every day people watch over 5 billion videos a day on YouTube. To top it off, it’s free to upload your videos to YouTube and optimize them for search.
At the same time you’re creating your storyboard, you’ll also want to decide how long your video you should be. On YouTube, videos under two minutes receive the highest levels of engagement. Your video should be just long enough to deliver the key messages that align with the goal you set in step 1. If you do create a longer video, experiment with how you present content — the pacing, story arc, and visuals — to keep viewers interested throughout.

YouTube recommends using a 1280 x 720 px image to ensure that your thumbnail looks great on all screen sizes. 
When choosing an ISO, consider the lighting. If your subject is well lit (for example, if you were outside), you can get by with a lower ISO, ideally around 100 or 200. If you’re indoors in a low-light situation, you’ll need bump the ISO up — just be careful of how noisy it makes your shot.

If you’re looking for an instrumental song, be sure to find something that was recorded with real instruments. Songs made with digital samples can make your video feel unprofessional and out of date.
For example, if you are shooting an interview or a how-to video, the subject’s eyes should align with the top horizontal line around one of the two intersections. For this “talking head” shot, you can also improve your composition by leaving enough (but not too much) head room. This is the empty space above the person’s head.

Videos have a direct impact on search results. It is common knowledge that rich media, which includes videos, is favored by search engine algorithms. To top it up, the fact that Google owns YouTube also plays a role in video’s increased popularity. Google has been constantly adjusting its algorithm to give its users a meaningful experience while searching. To satisfy user intent, they show a variety of results, and not just exact keyword matches. As a result, search results now prominently feature videos among top results.
To add subtitles or closed captions, head to your video manager then click on “Videos under “Video Manager.” Find the video you want to add subtitles or closed captioning to and click the drop-down arrow next to the edit button. Then choose “Subtitles/CC.” You can then choose how you’d like to add subtitles or closed captioning.
This instinctively human account provides viewers with an opportunity to bond with the brand. This ultimately gives them a leg up on the competition, as a sense of empathy often goes a long way when it comes to influencing a consumer’s preferences.
